Matt Banahan: Rugby Youngsters Belonging To Bath Are Fearless

The clash between Bath and Montpellier at the Recreation Ground on the 12th of December, 2014 was really impressive. Bath was able to win the rugby match due the earnest efforts of Bath winger Matt Banahan.

The hat-trick scored by Matt Banahan gave the opportunity to Bath to win against Montpellier. Bath was able to score 32 points and Montpellier was able to score 12 points. Montpellier tried extremely hard to fight back but the team was unable to succeed.

This was the rugby match in which Sam Burgess made his debut for Bath. Francois Louw also returned to Bath United’s side as a flanker. Forwards Dave Attwood, David Wilson and Paul James also started playing after they had not played last week.

The Jerseyman admitted after the match that the England Internationals who have recently become a part of Bath rugby team namely- Semesa Rokoduguni, Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Kyle Eastmond and George Ford deserve to be praised as well.

Banahan said that scoring the hat-trick was good for Bath team. The players knew that the 5 points would massively help the team and it is necessary that Bath crosses the whitewash sometimes. He really enjoyed the match especially the try scored by the replacement Horacio Agulla.

In relation to Sam Burgess, Banahan said that since he has played two matches with Burgess previously he is aware of the pressure Burgess is facing. Therefore he will surely try to help Burgess in anyway he can.

According to Banahan, youngsters belonging to Bath are fearless because of which they play tremendously well.

Bath has to win the last two rugby matches of the European Rugby Champions Cup in order to be a part of the knockout stages. Banahan is of the opinion that it is going to be tough for Bath. However, he thinks the squad has the capability to battle bravely.
